Chicago Manual of Style

The Chicago Manual of Style has two main formatting styles: the Notes-Bibliography system (Chicago NB), used mainly in humanities, and the Author-Date system, used mainly in social sciences. The Chicago NB style cites sources in footnotes or endnotes and includes them in a bibliography at the end of the paper. Author-Date style, however, uses in-text citations and a reference page at the end of the paper.

The CMOS in general requires papers to be double spaced, with margins no less than 1" and font no smaller than size 10 (preferably size 12). There should also be a title page and headers on each page with the page number flush right. For more detailed instructions visit the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (Purdue OWL) CMOS Guide.
