Red Light, Green Light - Prostitution & Sex Trafficking
As nations around the globe attempt to fight sex trafficking, many consider legalizing prostitution. Two filmmakers travel across ten countries to explore the issue, attempting to answer the question: "How can we prevent sexual exploitation before it happens in the first place?" Though governments are getting better at prosecuting traffickers and providing aftercare to victims, it is time we begin to ask the question of what lies at the root.
Trafficked: The Child Sex Trade
The trafficking of women and children for prostitution is a global problem. The United Nations estimates that more than one million children are forced into sexual slavery each year. Some of them are trafficked into Australia. This powerful documentary follows former police officer turned private investigator, Chris Payne as he investigates this shocking crime. As a member of the Australian Federal Police, Payne headed Paper Tiger, a special operation aimed at combating sex trafficking in the mid 1990s. For a decade, he has been haunted by the case of "Nikkie", a young Thai girl found working in a Sydney brothel.
Not My Life: The Global Impact of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery
Not My Life is the first film to depict the cruel and dehumanizing practices of human trafficking and modern slavery on a global scale.
Filmed on five continents, in a dozen countries, Not My Life takes viewers into a world where millions of children are exploited, every day, through an astonishing array of practices including forced labor, domestic servitude, begging, sex tourism, sexual violence, and child soldiering.
The Department of Justice estimates that there are 300,000 children at risk of being trafficked into sexual slavery in the U.S. A Path Appears introduces individual survivors behind these shocking numbers, and illuminates the widespread existence of a crime happening in our own backyards.
