Art at RCC

Welcome to the guide on Art at RCC

This webpage celebrates the wonderful art here at RCC. You can find art displayed all around campus in places like the Media Arts Center, Library, Administration building and Student Center.

The Art Connection, Inc. was a non-profit agency in Boston’s South End.
Since 1995, it  collected donations of art from Boston area artists and collectors and been the conduit for donating them to other non-profits and government agencies that cannot afford original art. Roxbury Community College received 50 pieces of art through The Art Connection in 2005 and 2012.

The Genevieve McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation was formed to distribute thousands of works of art collected by Genevieve McMillan and created by Reba Stewart. Many hundreds of pieces have been donated to major art institutes around the country. RCC has been the recipient of ten art pieces in 2012.

Genevieve McMillan (1922-2008) was a major collector of artifacts from Africa and Oceana. At her death, her collection numbered over 1,500 items.

Reba Stewart (1930-1971). A close friend of Genevieve McMillan, Reba Stewart was an artist, teacher and a lover of travel. Many of these locales she incorporated into her artistic creations.
